Bacolod Wound Doctor Involved in National Planning

Dr. Chinkin Coruña (Standing, third from left), joins wound care leaders from all over Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Dr. Coruña leads the pioneering efforts of the Philippine Orthopedic Wound Care and Diabetic Limb Society to engage members and patients with presence online.

The Philippine Orthopedic Wound Care and Diabetic Limb Society (POWCDLS) held its annual strategic planning in Acacia Hotel Alabang last February 20-21, 2026. This reflects the society’s serious commitment in visiting areas around the country for relevant wound care education. Dr. Coruña now leads POWCDLS’ online advocacy expected to roll out this year. Together with peers from the National Capital Region, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Cavite and Ilocos, Dr. Chinkin represents Bacolod City in Negros Island and Western Visayas in greatly contributing to the roadmap of the organization through its academic, training, and virtual campaigns. These events are vital because they bridge the gap between use of effective wound care appliances to health care professional. This ultimately leads to better patient outcomes and decreased morbidity in the population.
