Visayas Foot Expert Represents the Philippines in International Wound Summit
Wound care is practiced in many different ways depending which part of the world you come from, resource availability, health professional preference, and even due to accepted cultural norms. Dr. Chinkin Coruña was part of the Philippine contingent participating amongst 20 countries around the world. Over 200 surgeons, nurses, industry partners took part in “Healing in Every Step of Life” last July 11 and 12, 2026 at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.
Dr. Coruña was one of three foot and ankle surgeons invited to the academic exchange alongside Prof Tanawat Vaseenon of Thailand and Dr. Brandon Lee Keong Joo of Malaysia. They had a meaningful conversation at the Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU) tract. The world-class affair involved delegates from other nations such as Bahrain, Croatia, Greece, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Oman, Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam. Other topics involved experts in Burns, OB-Gyne, DFU, Orthopedic Surgery, and Pressure-Injury Prevention.
“International gatherings like this are relevant because of the calibration that occurs among peers. What is truly state-of-the-art is defined, shared, and repetitively assessed among global experts to check for flaws or changes in practice that ultimately lead to better patient care. It is truly a pleasure to be meeting dear old friends in this conference, it makes the discussions more meaningful and personal,” says Dr. Chinkin.
