Orthopedic Doctor Mentors Students in Evidence-Based Medicine
Dr. Chinkin Coruña taught third year students (MD3) from University of St. La Salle ‘s College of Medicine (USLS COM) about Evidence-Based Medicine last July 4, 2025. This marks his first year of teaching Research at the medical school. “Learning what the students want to make of their promising careers, and inserting the role of research to help them achieve those dreams are not usual gifts educators receive from the pupils,” says Dr. Coruña. He continues, "There is a joy in teaching is that even teachers learn something new. And having that attitude is infectious. Educators get to experience this revelation as students warm up with consistent and heartfelt mentorship. More meaningful, he gets to be the first person to introduce them to orthopedic surgery in Bacolod City.
Dr. Chinkin Coruña concludes his lecture with USLS COM MD3 students by hearing what they want to specialize in. In ten years, Bacolod City and its nearby municipalities will be graced by these young physicians with their healing hands across many fields.
